State Attorney Releases Letter

Release posted on 10-27-21 at 12:27 p.m.

State Attorney Bruce Bartlett released a letter with the results of his investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred on October 4th, involving a Pinellas Sheriff's Office deputy.

The letter is attached. It has been redacted per FL Amendment 6, Marsy's Law.

The Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Task Force is still investigating the shooting and has not yet released its report. St. Petersburg Police is leading the investigation because the shooting involved a Pinellas Sheriff's Deputy.

The Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Taskforce was created to ensure the investigations conducted into law enforcement use of deadly force are thorough, complete, and objective. The purpose of this taskforce is to make sure that officer-involved shootings in Pinellas County are investigated by an independent agency and not by the agency involved in the use of deadly force.
