Serious Injury Pedestrian Crash

Release posted on 10-08-21 at 8:40 p.m.

Shortly after 4pm, 2015 GMC U-Haul box truck was headed southbound on 34th Street South. It was raining and there was traffic in front of, and to the side of the U-Haul, all moving below the speed limit. (The southbound traffic had a green light at Central Avenue and a green light at 1st Avenue South. )

A pedestrian, Richard Edward Robinson (10/02/1960) address unknown, was walking eastbound in the east driveway of the CVS, 3426 Central Avenue. For an unknown reason, Robinson continued walking toward the road as the U-Haul passed him. The passenger side mirror of the U-Haul struck Robinson in the head, sending him to the ground. Robinson was transported to Bayfront Health St Pete in critical condition. Cook and Taylor were uninjured.

Alcohol was not a factor in this crash.
