Use of Deadly Force Taskforce Investigation

Chad Allen Jenkins, W/M, 12/24/1970

On Monday, Oct. 4th, at approximately 2317 hours, the Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigative Taskforce was activated in reference to an incident at 3949 38th St N. Pinellas County sheriff's deputies were there in an effort to arrest Chad Allen Jenkins on Probable Cause for Child Abuse (Felony) and Domestic Battery (Misdemeanor) established from an earlier investigation. The earlier investigation also revealed that Jenkins was known to be armed with a firearm.

Deputies approached the residence where they saw Jenkins entering a vehicle. Deputies initiated contact with the suspect who had a firearm in his hand. Shots were fired and Jenkins sustained gunshot wounds that resulted in his death.

No deputies were hurt.

The deceased next of kin has been notified.

The investigation is ongoing.

The St. Petersburg Police Department is leading this investigation as a member of the Pinellas County Use of Deadly Force Investigation Taskforce.
