On Sunday, May 23, 2021, a 1997 Toyota SUV driven by Cynthia Rae Lauber (DOB 10/12/1954) was northbound on Dr. MLK St. N when it lost control and struck an above ground water main before crashing into the wall of the Jamestown Apartments in the 8400 block of MLK.

Lauber was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It is unknown whether or not intoxication was involved.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
