On March 6, 2021 just after 8pm, a 2004 blue Ford Explorer, driven by Desmond Bernard Blue (DOB 01/23/1972) was driving northbound in the center lane of 34th Street South at 15th Avenue South.

A bicyclist, John David Lee (DOB 08/29/1947), was crossing the north side of the intersection when the Ford Explorer struck him.

Blue stayed at the scene and is cooperating with detectives. Lee was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he died a few hours later.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
