On 10/02/2021 SPPD officers arrested Michael Anthony Peak Jr. (DOB 08-09-1989) in the 5400 block of Burlington AV N. He faces one charge of 2nd degree murder for the shooting death of Eric Thornhill Chavis on 7/5/21.

At 3:37 a.m., St. Petersburg Police received a call about a person shot outside in the parking lot of Leanne's Rental Hall , 1566 16th Street South. There was a large crowd of 100-150 gathered at that location.

When police arrived they found 27-year-old Eric Thornhill Chavis (double last name) , DOB 7-12-93, of St. Petersburg, had been shot. He suffered critical injuries and officers administered first aid until rescue arrived. The victim later died at the hospital.
