Fatal Crash

Release posted on 12-17-21 at 7:58 p.m.

At 2pm, a black Infinity Q50 was traveling westbound on 5th Avenue North. A motorcycle driven by Patrick Cauley (DOB 2/25/56, St. Petersburg) was traveling eastbound on 5th Avenue North. The black Infinity made a left/southbound turn onto 31st Street North and crashed into the motorcycle, that was also passing through the intersection. Cauley was thrown from the motorcycle by the impact.

Cauley was wearing a helmet and padded jacket when the crash occurred. Cauley was transported from the scene to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing.

St. Petersburg Police is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a black Infiniti at the intersection of 5th Avenue North and 31st Street. The motorcyclist is deceased.

The intersection is closed in all directions.

5th Avenue North is closed from 28th -34th street.

31st Street is closed between Dartmouth and 6th Avenue North.

The intersection will be closed for several hours for the investigation.

The department will release more information as it becomes available.
