Funeral for Officer Weiskopf

Release posted on 08-30-21 at 1:41 p.m.

Funeral services for Officer Michael Weiskopf will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 31, at The Coliseum, 535 4th Avenue North.

We will provide a livestream on Facebook of the services for those who can't attend.

Traffic: 4th Avenue North will be closed between 8th Street North and 5th Street North, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Due to concerns with COVID-19, the services inside are only open to media and a very limited group of people on a guest list. Anyone inside the Coliseum is required to wear a mask.

The service inside should last about an hour. Then the coffin and family will proceed out to the parking lot. In the parking lot, we will have; the Presentation of Colors by the Honor Guard, 21-gun salute, Taps, rider-less horse, presentation of the flag to family, Amazing Grace, and Last Call.

Officer Weiskopf's widow wants to do everything she can to encourage vaccination for COVID -19. As a result, the Health Dept. will provide vaccines in a tent in the parking lot of The Coliseum from 9 a.m. to noon.

There will be no public graveside service.
