At 9:46 a.m., on Wednesday, September 23, bicyclist Earnest Jenkins, DOB 1-3-71, was southbound on the west side of Dr. MLK Street South. He continued riding through the red light at 22nd Avenue South, and struck the side of an SUV that was eastbound with the green light.

The bicyclist was transported to Bayfront Health and today, he died of his injuries.

The SUV driver, Donald Davis, DOB 11-27-59, did not stop at the scene of the crash. Traffic homicide investigators identified and located the SUV driver. Today he was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving while license suspended/canceled/revoked.
