Our preliminary findings are that a crowd gathered at the Food Max Meat Market at 1400 18th Ave. S early in the morning of September 19, 2020. An argument occurred between individuals and shots were fired just after 1am. Officers arrived to find Bernard Nixon (DOB 10/15/1981) and another man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where Nixon was pronounced dead. The second victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was in critical condition at last check.
Later this morning, Darren Lamont Williams (DOB 11/18/1970) was arrested and is facing the following felony charges; Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Murder in the 2nd Degree (Attempt) and Murder in the 2nd Degree. All charges are in connection with the shooting at the Food Max Meat Market this morning.

SPPD is investigating a shooting that happened in the 1400 block of 18th Ave S around 1am.
Two men were transported to the hospital. One victim died and another suffered multiple injuries and is in stable condition.
