Fatal Crash

Claudette Powell's passenger, Marianna Schlegel (DOB 11/25/34), who was hospitalized after the crash with life-threatening injuries, has passed away.

Shortly before 11 a.m., a 58-year-old woman was driving a silver Lexus sedan northbound on Pasadena Avenue and attempted to merge onto 66th Street northbound. She lost control of the car, hit a guardrail, crossed the median and eventually hit a tree and flipped the car near 5th Avenue North.

She was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased. Her name will be released once her family is notified.

The only passenger, an 85-year-old woman, is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Officers are on the scene of a single car crash in the 500 block of 66th Street North. A silver Lexus sedan was the only vehicle involved.

The driver, an adult woman died of her injuries and the passenger, also an adult woman, has life-threatening injuries.

Northbound lanes of 66th street between Pasadena and 5th Avenue North are closed for the investigation.
