Fatal Pedestrian Crash

The victim was identified as Allen Blanford Sowards,( DOB 6-18-62), 226 6th St. South, St. Petersburg.


Retitled Fatal Pedestrian Crash - Updated on 10-09-20 at 05:28 a.m.

The victim, a 58 year old man, died of his injuries.

Police are searching for a 2010-2012 white Nissan Altima sedan (not an SUV as 1st reported) with left front damage and missing left front fog light bezel.

The 58 year old man walked into 34th street and sat in the road near 1st Ave South. The Altima,traveling northbound, struck him and drove off.

The victim's name will be released once we reach his next of kin.


Hit and Run Pedestrian Crash - Posted on 10-09-20 at 12:47 a.m.

St. Petersburg Officers are currently investigating a crash involving a vehicle that hit a pedestrian at Central Avenue and 34th St. at 12:18a.m. The victim, a man, has life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, possibly an SUV, fled the scene.

All lanes of 34th street at Central Avenue will be closed for the investigation for several hours. We have no other details to release at this time.
