Sunday's Protests

We had 11 hours of peaceful marches and protests throughout Downtown St. Petersburg today.

At about 11 p.m. there were about 200 protesters outside PD headquarters. Someone tore the water meters covers off and threw them at officers. Rocks and bottles followed.

Several officers were hit (only 1 had a minor injury , everyone else is ok) and a patrol car window was smashed.

At that point officers deployed smoke and told the crowd to leave. No tear gas was used. Those who refused to leave were arrested. 14 were arrested for unlawful assembly.

Thanks to Pinellas Sheriff's deputies and Pinellas Park Police for their assistance.
