Fatal Pedestrian Crash

Update on 03-25-20

The pedestrian who died has been identified as Jerry Wayne VanDyke (01/25/1948).

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

On Monday, March 23, 2020, around 2:15pm a 2020 Jeep SUV driven by Danelle Monique Mullis (DOB 09/18/1979) was northbound on 34th Street North in the curb lane.

A pedestrian who was trying to cross 34th Street (westbound), said he tripped off the curb as the Jeep neared his location.

Mullis hit her brakes and tried to swerve to avoid the pedestrian, but the right front corner of her Jeep struck him.

He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with life threatening injuries and died later that night.

The pedestrian’s identity will be released once his family has been notified.
