Serious Injury Crash

Update on 06-22-20 at 9:20 AM

This crash is still under investigation, but preliminary information indicates that shortly before 11 p.m. a gray 2016 Dodge Charger traveling northbound on 16th Street South and a 2020 silver Ford Fusion going eastbound on 14th Avenue South, collided in the intersection. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

The drivers of both cars lost control, swerved off the road and hit the front porch of a home on the 1300 block of 16th Street South. No one inside the home was hurt, but five victims, all from St. Petersburg, were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

In the Fusion, a 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old man suffered serious injuries but are in stable condition and a 23-year-old woman suffered minor injuries. A 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman who were in the Charger suffered minor injuries.

Detectives do not believe any of the cars involved were stolen. However, they are still looking for the driver of the 2020 Ford Fusion, who fled the scene at the time of crash.
