Drowning

Update on 01-12-20

The deceased child is identified as Malik Brown (DOB 12-23-16).

Some of you have inquired about the timeline of police response. We received the call of a missing child at 11:28 a.m. Officers arrived at 11:32 a.m. Officers located the child, began CPR and called for rescue at 11:40 a.m.

The investigation is still ongoing.


Previously released on 01-12-20

At 11:40 a.m., St. Petersburg Police officers responded to a home at Lakewood Estates about a missing 3 year old boy.

During the search for the child, an officer found him in a pond, about a block and a half away, in the 1600 block of Alcazar Way S.

The child was transported to the hospital, and later pronounced dead.

Officers are still investigating.
