About 3:45 pm, a marked police cruiser was involved in a crash with a Mercedes SUV at 15th Avenue South and 28th Street South.

The officer sustained serious but non- life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The other driver also went to the hospital to be checked out(there were no passengers).

The intersection will remain closed for several hours for the investigation.
