The victim in the motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a St. Petersburg man has been identified as Kelly Leroy Quimper (DOB 2-11-1964).

Quimper was travelling east on 5th Ave. N on Friday, August 28, 2020 when he lost control of his 2018 Harley Davidson and drove onto the sidewalk, came into contact with a fence and was thrown from his bike onto the pavement.

Quimper was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Though it was believed that another vehicle may have been involved, our investigation revealed that it was a single-vehicle crash.

Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a car that happened at 4:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of 5th Avenue North.

The driver of the motorcycle is deceased at the scene.

5th Avenue North is closed to all traffic between 14th street and 16th Street for the investigation.
