Drowning

Update on 08-24-20 at 8:50 a.m.

The man who drowned while swimming at Spa Beach on Saturday has been identified as Christopher Garmon (DOB 09/09/1960). Garmon was swimming with a friend at beach area off of the St. Petersburg Pier, when he was found face down in the water, after his friend got out to make a phone call.

Bystanders and St. Pete Fire and Rescue tried to save his life, but Garmon was pronounced dead at Bayfront Hospitpal.

No foul play is suspected.


Released on 08-22-20 at 7:05 p.m.

This evening at 6 PM a man in his 50s, who was swimming in the water off the beach at the St. Petersburg Pier, was found floating face down.

Rescue responded and he was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His identity will be released once we notify next of kin.
