Shooting Investigation

Update on 04-27-20

Detectives arrested the gunman in last Monday's homicide that occurred in the parking lot of the Pure Gas Station at 1301 Dr. MLK Street South at 1:30 a.m.

Tyree Bingham, DOB 10-14-91, of St. Petersburg, is charged with
-2nd degree murder - 1 count
-Aggravated battery - 3 counts
-Felon in Possession of a Firearm
in the shooting death of Resnick Hampton Jr. (DOB 03/06/1992)

The deceased victim has been identified as Resnick Hampton Jr. (DOB 03/06/1992).

While on a directed patrol, around 1:30am, an SPPD officer arrived at 1301 MLK St. S and learned that shots had been fired just before he got there.

Shortly afterwards, victims started arriving at local hospitals with gunshot wounds.

One man died and two people suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

One of the victims who suffered a non-life-threatening injury, Christopher Hawkins (DOB 05/18/1972) was arrested on a warrant, after he was treated for a graze wound.

We would like to remind residents that we are under the Safer at Home Order and groups of more than 10 people are not allowed to gather. Please limit travel outside of your home to essential activities.
