September 28, 2019 , shortly after 7:00 p.m., a 1996 Honda Accord, driven by Christopher Lenard Booker Jr. ,age 24, was westbound on Central Avenue in the curb lane.

Verdell Sheppard ,age 66, a pedestrian, was crossing Central Avenue (midblock) and walked into the path of the Honda.

The Honda struck Sheppard and he sustained serious injuries. Sheppard was transported to Bayfront Health - St. Petersburg where he is being treated.

Alcohol was a factor in this crash, by the pedestrian. This case is still under investigation.
