The victim in yesterday’s fatal crash has been identified as Margaret Waller (DOB 08/30/1948).
Waller was crossing 58th St. in the crosswalk when the vehicle Anthony Seafus was driving struck her just before 4pm on June 26th, 2019.
Seafus is being charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage and vehicular homicide.

Leaving the scene of an accident
Just before 4p.m. , Anthony Ceafus was driving a 2007 Mercedes sedan westbound on Central Avenue and hit a vehicle at 49th St. and drove off at a high rate of speed .
The Mercedes then ran the red light at 58th Street and a Hyundai Sonata headed southbound on 58th, struck the Mercedes.
The Mercedes then hit a pedestrian (woman) who was in the crosswalk. She died at the scene. We are still working to identify her.
No one else was seriously injured.

Here is preliminary information on a fatal crash at Central Avenue near 58th street.
At about 4 p.m., a black Mercedes sedan struck an SUV on Central Avenue near 58th Street. A pedestrian was also struck and killed (at this time, we have not been able to confirm identity or gender). The driver of the Mercedes was taken to the hospital with non-life -threatening injuries.
Central Avenue and 58th street will remain closed for several hours for the investigation. I will release more details as they become available later this evening.
