Location: 6300 Block of Dr. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street Jr. St North

Wednesday,July 24, at 9:51 p.m. a black Dodge Journey, driven by Anthony Antoine Boyd (DOB 09//10/1981, of St. Petersburg), was southbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North in the median lane and had a front seat passenger of Erick Derrell Johnson (DOB 06/23/1980, of St Petersburg). For an unknown reason, the Dodge Journey lost control and slid off of the roadway striking a tree.

The driver, Boyd, died at the scene and was pronounced dead at 11:41 p.m. The passenger, Johnson, was transported to Bayfront Health - St. Petersburg where he is recovering from his injuries.

Alcohol was a factor in this crash.
