Update on 01-15-19

On January 14, 2018 around 5:08am, a 2001 Toyota Tundra driven by Joseph Caradonna (DOB 08/06/1995) was traveling eastbound on 1st Ave South in the center lane. Independent Cab #69, a 2002 Mercury, driven by Kerry Rashad Murphy (DOB 12/27/1990) was traveling Southbound on 48th St. when it tried to cross 1st Ave South.

The Mercury failed to yield to the Toyota and struck it. The Mercury spun a few times and came to a rest at the south curb of 1st Ave South.

The Toyota continued eastbound on 1st Avenue, but veered off the road and crashed into two trees at 4720 1st Avenue South.
Both drivers were seriously injured. The crash remains under investigation.

Shortly after 5 a.m., a very serious accident occurred between a pick up truck and a vehicle at 1st Ave.South and 48th St.

Both Drivers were seriously hurt. Both are adult men and they had no passengers. All traffic at the intersection will be shut down for the investigation for at least two hours.
