At 1:50 p.m., a 2015 Harley Davidson Motorcycle, driven by David Rankin (09/18/1955, of St Petersburg) was eastbound on Haines Road with a female passenger, Allegro Rankin (03/19/1958). A 2014 Lexus GS350, driven by Thomas Joseph Zopf II (06/05/1998, of St Petersburg) was southbound on 19th Street North, stopped at a stop sign. The Lexus failed to yield from the stop sign and struck the motorcycle causing David and Allegro Rankin to be thrown from the motorcycle.

David and Allegro Rankin suffered serious injuries and were transported to Bayfront Health St Petersburg where they are being treated for their injuries. David and Allegro Rankin were wearing helmets and alcohol did not play a role in this crash. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Police are on the scene of a crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle at Haines Road and 19th Street North.

It happened at 1:50 p.m. A man and a woman passenger riding on the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.

Haines Road and 19th St N. will remain closed for several hours.
