Detectives believe an altercation inside Cabana Sands may have led to the shooting that happened in the club’s parking lot while an officer was investigating a hit-and-run crash nearby.
Investigators have identified and are working to find two people they believe may be involved. The investigation is still active and detectives are working to understand the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Eight people were treated for injuries, five of which suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds. Most of the victims have been treated and released from the hospital.

SPPD is investing a shooting that happened in the parking lot of Cabana Sands located at 4300 6th St. South this morning. Just after midnight, police were called to investigate a hit and run crash. While there, several shots were fired and the crowd disbursed.
There were no victims at the scene but eight people transported themselves to area hospitals with various injuries.
