Dwight Horne (11/25/1970) was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death on Sunday, March 31, 2019.
Horne was driving a Ford F-150 and failed to return to the scene of the crash after a witness told him he struck 74-year-old James Igler. Police caught up with Horne more than 35 blocks away.
As a result of the crash, Igler suffered serious injuries and died on March 28, 2019.

The pedestrian, 74-year-old James R. Igler (07/31/1944), died earlier today after being seriously injured in a hit and run crash at Central Avenue and 28th Street on Saturday, March 16th.
The investigation into the crash continues and charges are pending.

On Saturday, March 16, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a Ford F150 Pick-Up truck, driven by Dwight Horne, DOB 11-25-70, of St. Petersburg, was northbound on 28th Street North crossing Central Avenue, when it hit a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 74 year old man, was in a marked crosswalk, attempting to cross 28th street. He sustained life-threatening injuries, and was transported to Bayfront Health.
Horne did not stop, but Police located him a short time after. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
