Shortly before midnight, police were called to the 2000 block of 17th Avenue South where a 59- year old man was found deceased in the roadway.

Investigators learned a physical altercation had occurred between the victim, and a woman he was socializing with in a nearby empty lot. During the fight, the man suffered an injury and died. The woman, Nancy Walker (DOB 9-21-64), was taken into custody for a separate charge of battery on a law enforcement officer. For now, that is the only charge she faces.

The death is still under investigation and any charges are pending.

The victim’s name hasn’t been released because we are trying to reach next of kin.
