Due to overwhelming interest in the scene out at 118th Ave and 28th St N today, I’m sending out a media alert to ensure everyone is updated on the situation there.

St. Petersburg Police received a call about a suicidal individual who made statements about causing harm to himself during a domestic dispute in the 10-thousand-100 block of 12th Way N. We received information that he left in a vehicle and may be armed.

We eventually located the vehicle in a parking lot near the intersection of 118th Ave and 28th St N, and took all precautions to safely approach it. To do this we utilized resources from our SWAT Team.

Sean Raymond Lopez (H/M DOB 03/09/1995) was found deceased inside the vehicle.

Preliminary indications are that he sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. An investigation into Lopez’s death is underway, but at this time it appears to be a suicide.
