The body found last night by a fisherman near the Howard Frankland bridge has been identified as Sheila Capone (W/F DOB 12/18/1991). The investigation into her death is ongoing.

Due to the condition of the body, further details concerning the identity and manner of death will come from the medical examiner. The scene near the Howard Frankland Bridge has been cleared.

Around 4:15pm we received a call from a fisherman who reported a possible body in the water near the Howard Frankland Bridge. At this time we can confirm that a body has been located and a death investigation is underway.

Investigation Underway

St. Petersburg Police are investigating a suspicious item found floating in the bay. Though there are no further details at this time, there appears to be no threat to the public.
