Join us Monday, December 10, at 6:00 a.m., at the Target Store, 8151 Dr. MLK St. North, as dozens of St. Petersburg Police Department officers and employees shop for $12,000 of gifts for needy children.
Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, this will be the second year for an event called "Park, Walk, and Joy!", after Chief Holloway's community policing model called Park, Walk, and Talk.
We will gather in the Target parking lot at 5:30 a.m., and shop from 6 a.m.- 8 a.m., or until finished. The store will be closed to the public during the event. The media contact will be Yolanda Fernandez 727-742-9970.
Police officers will give the toys to children in the city's two PAL (Police Athletic League) programs, children of homicide victims, and 25 needy children enrolled in our city's Parks and Recreation programs.
All police department shoppers will donate their time for the event. The toys will be wrapped and delivered later this month.
