Shortly after 9 a.m., a Toyota Yaris headed westbound on Ulmerton Road turned left in front of a Kawasaki motorcycle that was eastbound on Ulmerton. The motorcycle driver, Kevin J. Charles, DOB 3-13-80, of Ruskin, died at the scene as a result of the crash. He was wearing a helmet. The Yaris driver, Robyn V. Pearce, DOB 5-23-92, of Tampa, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries. No impairment is suspected to have played a part in the crash. Eastbound lanes remain closed for the investigation.

Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle vs car crash on Ulmerton Rd in the Carillon area. The man driving the motorcycle died at the scene. The woman driving the car was injured and taken to the hospital. I will release more information when it becomes available. Traffic in the area will be affected for several hours for the investigation. All eastbound traffic lanes on Ulmerton at Fountain Parkway are closed. This affects the northbound ramp to the Howard Frankland bridge as well as the southbound ramp to MLK St. N. Report #2018-036701
